The gift of time is always appreciated at the Shalom Center. In fact, more than 700 volunteers make the Shalom Center programs work! Food Pantry: (Open 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday)
Sort, shelve, and pack food (6th grade and older)
Help with food distribution, intake forms, eligibility, etc.
Drive to pick up donations at local stores, private homes, and commodity distribution site using Shalom vehicle.
Soup Kitchen: (Open 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm, every day)
Drive to transport community service workers.
Children's Classroom (3:00 pm - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, during the school year;
  prefer to have high school honor students and/or persons
with college experience)
Assist teacher with one-on-one activities, chaperoning field trips, etc.

Nightly Shelter:
1st Shift (7pm - 11pm): Assist with shelter set-up and intake; Visit with and monitor guests.
2nd Shift (11pm - 3 am): Supervise.
3rd Shift (3am - 7 am): Supervise, provide breakfast and clean-up.
Drive guests to and from shelter sites using Shalom Center van.
Office/Clerical: (Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday)
Help stuff, label, and mail newsletter and appeals, answer phones.
General Office work/clerical, knowledge of computer & Excel helpful

Fundraisers & Special Events:
Artists for Shalom Auction: Help with registration, solicitation and pick-up of auction items, mailings (June)
Walk Against Hunger: Assist with set-up, registration, walkers, sponsors, rest-stops, attendants, packet sorters. (May)
Holiday House: Pack and/or distribute turkey/food baskets. (Sept. - Nov.)
Pig Roast & Auction: Assist in cooking, serving, bake sale, silent auction. (Nov.)
