Harborside Academy Art Students help Shalom Center “Light The Way Forward” at their Annual Celebration on May 2nd

Kenosha, WI (April 21, 2025) Harborside Academy art students created nine original artworks based on Shalom Center Annual Celebration’s theme of “Light The Way Forward”. These creative works of art will be on display at the Annual Celebration on May 2nd. Three of the nine pieces of art will be auctioned off at the event. All of the artwork may be viewed on the Shalom Center website at www.shalomcenter.org/gallery

“The students did an amazing job of capturing our theme,” stated Esther Roberts, Interim Executive Director. “Each of the nine artists exhibited an amazing sense of talent, creativity and insight.”

Harborside Academy is a charter four-year public middle and high school. The artwork was created by students ranging from 6th grade to 12th grade under the instruction of Art Instructor Mandy Mahaffey. The artwork will be reproduced in a postcard-sized format and available for sale. All proceeds benefit Shalom Center’s food, shelter and guidance programs. The artwork will also be featured in Shalom Center’s Annual Impact Report and on Shalom Center’s website.

“I am extremely proud of all our Harborside artists and their creativity and dedication to high quality work. Their ability to express themselves and embody the Shalom Center’s mission visually is a testament to the power of art. I appreciate the opportunity to showcase the talent of our students and be of service to an organization that provides so much for the Kenosha community,” remarked Mandy Mahaffey.

The Shalom Center Annual Celebration will take place on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 11:30am to 2pm at the Kenosha Country Club. This celebratory luncheon is open to the public and will highlight the accomplishments of this local non-profit. Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala will be the guest speaker at the event. Tickets are $75 each and are available in advance only and may be purchased online at www.shalomcenter.org/events.
